PV Capacity
20 panels 10x facing north-east 10x facing south-west Total 8.80 kWp
System Type
Hybrid – 5kw Inverter, 20kWh Battery, 2 kW emergency circuits
Battery Capacity
20kWh Battery.
Cost
$38k – As part of a major renovation that included electric central heating, electric hot water and new switchboard.
Savings
a) Currently $1,900 /year electricity (inc GST)
> solar usage plus feed-in
> ~60-70% self-generation reduces impact of future supplier electricity price increases
b) $2,500 / year gas and wood (inc GST)
> costs no longer incurred)
> moving to heat pump systems for space and water heating reduced energy usage by ~10 MW / year.
c) Further savings when they move to an EV
Electrification State
Water and space heating were Gas/Wood gased – but are now electric
Cooking is electric and an EV is planned.
House Usage
We are generally home during the day.
What would you do differently?
Might have done more research, might have installed a larger capacity inverter. However, very satisfied with what we have.
