In the near future, the Wellington region can expect to face continued and increased coastal erosion and sea level rise, more extreme weather events including heatwaves, droughts, intense storms, and heavy rainfall, with an increased risk of flooding and rainfall induced landslides.
In a disaster, our neighbourhood will be our first and best source of support. While it’s not an emissions reduction activity, Ngaio Climate Crew is also involved in supporting emergency preparedness. We have organised a drill emergency community hub set up, and continue to connect through the Ngaio Crofton Downs Residents Association with planning for climate emergencies.
