Low Waste Life

Waste is our third biggest source of emissions in Pōneke, so it’s an area that we are really focused on. There are already lots of low waste projects in our community, some organised by Ngaio Climate Crew members, and some just enthusiastically supported by us!

Ngaio Toy Library – one of the busiest Toy Libraries in Wellington, this runs every second Saturday and is a great way to avoid buying new toys but still have all the fun. Open at Ngaio Town Hall, every second Saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm  https://www.ngaiotoylibrary.org.nz/

Recycling day – the first Saturday of every month head down to Ngaio Union Church from 10-12 to drop off some of the hard to recycle things in your life. All powered by volunteers, they take batteries, bottle caps, coffee pods, medicinal blister packs… find the whole list here: https://ngaio.org.nz

Ngaio repair cafe – the third Saturday of every month come down to Ngaio Union Church 10:00am – 1:00pm and bring your bits and bobs that need fixing instead of throwing away. A group of talented volunteers bring their tools to make amazing repairs, while you sit and eat cake and drink coffee. A great way to spend a Saturday! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100085965234411#
